  • Will my insurance cover this?

Unfortunately, Aresco of Tidewater cannot make the determination of what is a covered loss. This is the responsibility of the insurance carrier and the interpretation of their policy. It is illegal in the state of Virginia for anyone not licensed as an insurance agent or as an adjuster to interpret insurance policy language.

  • I filed an insurance claim, how do I know if my insurance will cover the full cost?

Our estimator and project manager will work directly with your insurance carrier’s adjuster to determine coverage prior to any significant demo being performed. There is probably a clause in your policy that allows the insurance carrier a right to inspect before significant demo is performed. We typically get in writing from the insurance carrier their approval to demo before the inspection in the form of a waiver or we will stabilize the loss while we wait for the adjuster to arrive.

  • What should I do immediately after discovering water damage?

Turn off the water source if possible and contact Aresco of Tidewater. Remove any valuables or personal items from the affected area to prevent further damage.

  • How long does water damage restoration take?

The restoration process can take anywhere from a few days to many weeks, depending on the extent of the damage. Our initial assessment will give a better estimate of a timeframe.

  • Can water damage cause mold growth?

Yes, mold can begin growing within 24-48 hours after water exposure. That’s why it’s crucial to address water damage as soon as possible by calling Aresco of Tidewater.

  • Is water damage covered by insurance?

It depends on your insurance policy and the cause of the water damage. Sudden and accidental events (for example, a burst pipe) are often covered, but gradual issues like leaks might not be.

  • What types of water damage are there?

There are three categories of water damage:

    • Clean water (Category 1)
    • Grey water (Category 2)
    • Black water (Category 3)

    Each requires different handling.

  • Can I clean mold myself?

Small patches of mold on non-porous surfaces may be cleaned using household cleaners. However, larger infestations or mold in porous materials should be addressed by our professional technicians.

  • How do you clean up after a fire?

Fire damage cleanup involves removing debris, soot, and smoke, as well as repairing any structural damage. Our professional restoration services often include deodorizing and restoring items affected by smoke.

  • Is smoke damage covered by insurance?

Yes, most homeowner's insurance policies cover fire and smoke damage, but coverage can vary. It’s important to document all damage and notify your insurance company right away.
